Shinjiro Torii established Suntory Whisky in 1923. Suntory's master blenders have dedicated themselves to exploring the harmony of Japanese craftsmanship and nature for more than three generations. Suntory whisky is one of the most acclaimed and admired in the world, shaped by exquisite craftsmanship and presented with respect for Japanese omotenashi. Launched in 1989 to honor Suntory's philosophy of living in peace with both people and nature, Hibiki is the epitome of harmony. Hibiki's name translates to "resonance" in Japanese. The twenty-four causes of Japan's traditional calendar, as well as the twenty-four sides of its bottle designs, evoke the intricacies of nature in Suntory Whisky Hibiki. The world-renowned Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita distilleries of Suntory combine to create the magnificent blend known as Hibiki, which consists of countless malt and grain whiskies. These whiskies are carefully blended to produce a feeling of "wa"—a unity that reveals a rich orchestra of aromas and flavors. Although Hibiki's single malts are their most well-known offering, both collectors and experts will undoubtedly like this blended rendition. Other carefully selected, mild, unblended grain malts older than 21 years are vatted with the essential Yamazaki sherry casked malt. Hibiki 21 Year Old was named World's Best Blended Whisky at the 2014 World Whiskies Awards and was awarded 96 points in Jim Murray's 2014 Whisky Bible who summed it up commenting "...it's hard to raise the bar much higher than this.
